They say moving is one of the most stressful events in your life. And after working in the industry for years, we can see why.

After years of helping thousands of people find the right moving services and giving them the tools to have stress-free moves, we’ve noticed that there are still way too many who struggle to have a positive moving experience.

We want to be a part of the solution.

In an effort to make moving less stressful and create more transparency in the moving industry, we’re introducing the moveBuddha Better Moves project.

This program is designed to help us gain valuable input from people like you who are taking the leap and moving long-distance.

We want people to know what to expect when they hire a moving service. We also know that you can't always rely on online reviews to get an accurate picture of customers' experiences.

To understand what’s going wrong and to build as much transparency as possible in our own moving content, we need your help.

The essence of the program is to create in-depth accounts of your realistic moving experiences by highlighting the good, the bad, and everything in between when it comes to planning your move, executing the moving day, and dealing with your chosen moving service.

To be eligible, in connection with the submission of your Application, you must agree to the Project’s Additional Terms and Conditions, and to submit a Waiver and Release of Liability in favor of moveBuddha, in connection with your move.

When you join the moveBuddha Better Moves program, we’ll ask you to share in-depth information about your move, the process, the pros, cons, and everything in between. In return, we’ll compensate you for your time and effort with a $500 stipend. You will receive the stipend once your move is complete and once you complete all of the requirements listed in the terms of the program. More on that below.

What's the moveBuddha Better Moves Project?

People should know exactly what to expect when they hire a moving service. But you can't always rely on online reviews to get a complete and accurate picture of different customers' experiences.

To understand what's going wrong and to build as much transparency as possible in our own moving content, we need your help.

The essence of the Project is to create in-depth accounts of realistic moving experiences by highlighting the good, the bad, and everything in between when it comes to planning your move, executing the moving day, and dealing with your chosen moving service provider.

To do that, we'll ask you to share certain key information about how the moving process is going, for example, how you got a moving quote, how many movers you talked to, and what communication was like.

How does the Better Moves Project work?

Once you apply, we will review your Application. If, in our sole discretion, we select your Application, you'll receive details and deadlines for submitting your full, required information.

To be eligible, in connection with the submission of your Application, you must agree to the Project’s Additional Terms and Conditions, and to submit a Waiver and Release of Liability in favor of moveBuddha, in connection with your move.

If you meet all of the criteria during and after the move process, then you will receive a $500 general reimbursement for your moving costs.

What do you get for participating?

You'll receive a $500 grant once your move is complete and once you provide all of the required information and meet and comply with the Program requirements.

What we'll need from you:

As part of the Program, we will ask you to share certain information about your move to help us get a clearer picture of your experience.

We'll use this information to create content showcasing your experience.

Below you will find a breakdown of what we will ask you and what you will need to provide to us in order to receive the grant following completion of your move.

The estimated time commitment for completing these deliverables is about ~1-2 hours.

Required Deliverables

"About you" Survey

To be completed within one (1) week of the acceptance of your Application:

  • Tell us a little bit about yourself.
  • Who is moving?
  • Where are you moving?
  • How far are you moving?
  • How much stuff are you moving?
  • Why are you moving?
  • Are you moving any specialty items? Car? Antiques?
  • What is the most important thing to you during the move process?
  • What is your biggest concern about the moving process

Pre-Move Survey

To be completed BEFORE moving day:

  • How long before move day did you decide to move?
  • How long did it take you to find a mover once you started looking?
  • What was your process for finding a mover?
  • What websites did you use to find a mover?
  • How/Why did you ultimately decide which mover to choose?
  • Which moving service/company did you choose?
  • How did you obtain a quote from the company?
    • Describe the quote process
    • Please provide a screenshot of the quote if you received one
  • How much was the quote?
  • What weight/cubic footage did moving companies quote you?
  • Was the quote more or less than you expected?
  • How many quotes did you get before choosing?
  • How many times did the company contact you after you selected them?
    • Please provide at least 1-2 screenshots of your communication with the company. This can include emails, text messages, etc.
  • Was the staff helpful in answering questions you had before the move?
  • Did they tell you how to prepare for the move?
  • How are you preparing for the move?

Moving Day Survey

To be completed within one (1) week of your move-in day. Our tip is to look at these questions beforehand and jot down notes and take photos throughout the day:

  • When did the movers arrive?
  • Was it on schedule?
  • What was moving day communication like?
  • Did you feel good about how the staff moved your items?
  • Include at least eight (8) photos of boxes, the truck, the loading process, items in the truck, items being packed, items being wrapped, etc.
  • How long did it take to load the truck?
  • Was the final cost aligned with the initial estimate?

Post-Move Survey

To be completed within one (1) week after your move:

  • How long did it take for your truck to arrive?
  • Were your items delivered on time?
  • Were your items delivered safely?
  • What was communication like while your stuff was in transit?
  • How was the unloading process?
  • Did the moving company follow up after the move?
  • What was the total cost of your move?
  • Was there any damage/missing items?
    • Was their claims process reasonable?
  • Did you move any specialty items? How did they handle packing/moving specialty items?

Your experience with moveBuddha

To be completed within one (1) week after your move:

  • How did you hear about the Project?
  • What was your experience using the moveBuddha website?
  • How many websites did you look at before finding a mover?
  • Where in the moving process were you when you found the Better Moves Project?
  • What was the hardest (most difficult to document or produce)information you were asked to provide?
  • Did you read any other posts on moveBuddha.com?

Final Thoughts

To be completed within one (1) week after your move:

  • Did the move go as you expected?
  • What do you wish had gone differently?
  • What advice would you give to other people with similar moving situations as yours?
  • Would you use this process/mover again in the future?

Who can apply?

To qualify you must be:

  • A US Citizen who is at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Moving using a professional mover, container, shipper, and/or rental truck.
  • Moving 500 miles or more within the United States.
  • Moving at least a one-bedroom apartment.
  • Moving within the next six (6) months.
  • Willing to provide all of the information asked in the questionnaires below.

moveBuddha Better Moves Project Terms & Conditions

Revised and Effective as of December 17, 2021

These Additional Terms and Conditions (these “Better Moves Terms”) apply to an applicant’s (“you”, “your”, or the “User”) eligibility for the moveBuddha LLC (the “Company”, “we” or “us”) ‘Better Moves Grant’ (the “Better Moves Grant”). These Better Moves Terms are governed by and subject to all Company general terms and conditions of service (“General Terms”) and the Company’s Privacy Policy, each as may be updated by the Company, in accordance therewith, from time to time. The Better Moves Grant described herein is associated with the use of the moveBuddha ‘Better Moves Project’ (the “Project”) and is expressly incorporated as part of the General Terms. As such, you should read all references to the General Terms in these Better Moves Terms to include both these Better Moves Terms and all other applicable provisions of the General Terms. In the event of any conflict between these Better Moves Terms and the remainder of the General Terms, these Better Moves Terms will control, but only with respect to your eligibility for the Better Moves Grant. Capitalized terms which are used, but not specifically defined, herein, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the General Terms.

1. Better Moves Project; Grant Eligibility Criteria.

(a) The moveBuddha Better Moves Project is aimed at helping individuals gain better insight and more transparency relating to the moving process from other users who have enlisted the services of companies which provide transportation related moving services (generally referred to herein as “Movers”). In order to gain more insight into the moving process and set more realistic expectations for others, we are launching the Project.

(b) The Project is intended to provide eligible persons (including the User) with the Better Moves Grant, a FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR ($500.00) grant that is intended to be used by the User as reimbursement of costs related to their competed move, in exchange for the User’s testimonials as to their actual moving experiences. In order to be eligible for the Better Moves Grant, Users must:

(i) Be a United States Citizen, and be at least eighteen (18) years of age;

(ii) Be a current legal resident of one of the fifty (50) US States or the District of Columbia (D.C.), who are physically located and residing therein (excluding Guam, Puerto Rico and all other US and foreign territories and possessions);

(iii) Enter into a Moving Agreement with Movers through the use of our Services;

(iv) Complete a qualifying move of five hundred (500) miles or more;

(v) Move the contents of at least one-bedroom apartment or greater through the use of our Services;

(vi) Make a qualifying move within six (6) months of applying for the Better Moves Grant; and

(vii) Provide all information, surveys and documentation relating to the move, as required by us as part of the Project.

(c) Eligible Users may not be an official or employee of the Company, or any affiliate, nor an immediate family member of the same household of such employees and/or officials. The Better Moves Grant is void where prohibited by law.

2. Better Moves Grant Entry Requirements.

In order to apply for a Better Moves Grant, the User must click on the link located at movebuddha.com/better-moves-project and complete the Better Moves Grant Application (the “Application”), as instructed. Only Users who provide a valid phone number and email address as part of their Application will be considered. The Application must be completed and fully submitted. The date of submission will be determined by the date that we receive a User’s Application. Only one (1) entry per User will be considered valid, and multiple entries will be discarded, and may disqualify any such applicant, in the Company’s sole discretion.

3. Better Moves Grant Application Selections.

(a) Applications which have been properly completed and submitted will be reviewed by the Company, in due course, and applicants will be selected by the Company to move forward, at the Company’s sole and absolute discretion. No User is guaranteed to be selected or to receive a Better Moves Grant, and the Company may consider, approve and/or eliminate applications for any reason, or no reason, in its sole discretion.

(b) Users who have submitted an Application will be selected and notified on a rolling basis, subject to the Company’s sole election to continue the Project. Users will be notified via the phone number and/or e-mail address provided as part of the User’s Application. If the User cannot be contacted or does not claim the opportunity to participate in the Project within fourteen (14) days following the notification from us, then we reserve the right to withdraw the offer from the User and pick a replacement user for possible receipt of a Better Moves Grant. We are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by tampering, hacking, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with the Application. If awarded, a Better Moves Grant cannot be substituted, assigned, or transferred by the User. We reserve the right to disqualify Users who fail to follow these Better Moves Terms and/or the General Terms, or who make any misrepresentations or false statements related to the Company or to the Better Moves Grant.

4. Media Release.

The User hereby grants and conveys unto us all rights, title and interest in any and all testimonials, surveys, photographic images, video or audio recordings (the “Media”) made by the User as part of the Project. The User further authorizes us to use such images, words, and likenesses for marketing, on websites, in brochures or other writings and any for any other legitimate purpose. The User hereby voluntarily releases and holds harmless us, our directors, employees, and agents acting officially or otherwise, from all manner of suits, actions, claims, demands, and liabilities which may arise from such Media participation. This release applies to any and all media known, and hereafter devised, in perpetuity throughout the world. The User understands that all media remains the property of us, and waive all rights to original Media, copies of Media, royalties, entitlements, payments, or any other compensation or quid pro benefits which might arise from our acquisition, storage, display, publication, posting, or distribution of Media as described herein. By participating in the Project, the User agrees to a full and complete waiver of all possible claims of any nature whatsoever, including claims of negligence, personal injury or property loss, or damage, arising out of said Media participation.

5. Execution of Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement and Completion of Additional Surveys.

Concurrently with the submission of the Application, the User agrees to execute a Waiver and Release of Liability agreement, in the form provided by the Company, as consideration for the potential receipt of the Better Moves Grant and such additional surveys, documents, instruments or agreements as we shall determine are reasonably necessary or appropriate prior to, during and after the User’s move, including, if applicable, a W-9 (collectively, the “Additional Documents”). Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, the User agrees and acknowledges that we are not required to deliver to the User the Better Moves Grant until such time as the User has executed the Additional Documents.

6. Disclaimer and Limitations of Liability.

The Section of the General Terms entitled “Disclaimer and Limitations of Liability” is expressly incorporated herein by reference, and shall apply with equal force to these Better Moves Terms. In addition to, and not in lieu of, the limitations provided therein, in any event, our total aggregate liability to any User, with respect to any dispute arising in connection with the Project or any Better Moves Grant, shall not exceed a maximum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00).

7. Additional Disclaimers.

These Better Moves Terms are subject to all Federal, State and local laws and regulations. The Project and the Better Moves Grant is not a contest, sweepstakes, lottery or game of chance, of any kind, and no user should expect the same. The Better Moves Grant is intended to be a specific payment to selected eligible persons in exchange for their submission of valuable information to the Company, and any representation to the contrary is specifically disclaimed. Users agree that we shall not be liable for losses or injuries of any kind resulting from acceptance/possession and/or use/misuse of the Better Moves Grant, participation in the Project, or any technical malfunctions of the telephone network and/or transmission line, computer on-line system, computer dating mechanism, computer equipment, hardware, software, or any combination thereof, or any entries that are late (including delayed data transmissions), tampered with, garbled, incomplete, misdirected, lost, mutilated, delayed, corrupted, mechanically duplicated, or otherwise not in compliance with these Better Moves Terms. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the Project and/or the Better Moves Grant at any time at our sole discretion with or without notice to any Users.

8. Severability and Non-Waiver.

If any provision of these Better Moves Terms is held in whole or in part to be unenforceable for any reason, then the remainder of that provision and of the entire Better Moves Terms will be severable and remain in effect. Any failure by us to require the User’s performance of any provision in these Better Moves Terms shall not affect the User’s rights at any time thereafter, nor shall a waiver of any breach or default of these Better Moves Terms constitute a waiver of any subsequent breach or default or a waiver of the provision itself. All rights and remedies hereunder are cumulative.

9. Governing Law.

These Better Moves Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States of America and of the State of Georgia (US), and the Parties expressly acknowledge and agree that all disputes will be brought solely in the courts of Clarke County, Georgia, which shall have the sole and exclusive jurisdiction over the same.

10. Entire Agreement.

These Better Moves Terms, together with the General Terms, our Privacy Policy and the Waiver and Release of Liability, contain the entire agreement and supersede all prior and contemporaneous understandings between the Parties regarding the matters described herein.
