Trinity Relocation pricing: How much it costs to move

Getting an initial quote from Trinity Relocation can prove a little trickier compared to other movers. You must call their phone number (or submit your information for a callback) to get a free quote — you can’t just get an initial quote online.

However, the company’s terms and conditions listed on its website do provide a good overview of what is (and isn’t) included in your estimate.

The following items are included in a basic quote:

  • Transportation of your goods (including taxes, tolls, etc)
  • Standard furniture disassembly, reassembly, and wrapping in blankets
  • Itemized inventory
  • Basic insurance
  • 30 days free storage, if needed
  • Free first flight of stairs

Add-on charges that aren’t part of that initial quote include:

  • Additional flights of stairs: $50
  • Long carry (greater than 100 feet): $75 per 100 feet
  • Shuttle service (if truck cannot access home): $300+
  • Packing fragile items
  • Packing supplies beyond moving pads and packing tape
  • Additional months of storage: $129+ per month
  • Full packing services

You’ll have to pay a deposit of up to 30%, plus a binding estimate fee, at the time of booking with a credit card, personal check, or cashier’s check. Up to 50% of the moving cost is due prior to pickup, and their terms allow carriers to require payment of up to 70% of the cost before they leave the state.

Unfortunately, online reviews on Yelp, Consumer’s Advocate, and other review sites indicate that the company’s quoted estimates are often significantly different from what the carrier charges. It’s a good idea to review our moving cost calculator to get a better idea of what prices would be reasonable for your move.

Trinity Relocation offers a wide variety of services

With its focus on long-distance moving, you might think that Trinity Relocation Group’s services are relatively limited. However, the company actually offers a robust range of services for its moves:

  • Interstate moves: With its focus on long-distance moves, Trinity Relocation Group is able to service interstate and cross-country moves throughout the continental United States.
  • Packing services: For an additional fee, you can use the company’s movers for packing and unpacking items. Movers will disassemble standard furniture like bed frames and mattresses for free and wrap them in a quilted blanket for added protection during the move. You can also purchase packing supplies as needed.
  • Crating: Trinity’s movers can crate fragile and delicate items for extra protection during transport.
  • Auto transport: Door-to-door auto transport services are also available if you need help getting your vehicle across the country.
  • Storage services: If you won’t be able to move into your new house right away, 30 days of free storage at a secure, climate-controlled storage facility are included in each moving quote. You can rent a storage unit beyond that 30-day limit for an additional monthly fee.
  • Commercial moving: Trinity Relocation Group’s moving and storage services are also available for large and small businesses.

How Trinity Relocation Group stacks up against the competition

Given Trinity Relocation Group’s mixed online reputation, you’ll want to get moving quotes from competitors like Safeway Moving or American Van Lines — two of our best long-distance moving companies — before making a final decision. Here’s a closer look at how these companies compare.

Trinity Relocation Group vs. Safeway Moving

Safeway Moving is our top overall pick for long-distance movers, and our pick for cross-country moves on our best moving companies list. Safeway Moving does not service most local moves or provide online quotes. However, with its veteran-owned roots, Safeway has built a strong reputation with 24/7 customer service and a triple-check verification system to ensure accurate quotes.

Safeway Moving has competitive prices to begin with, but it also offers price matching so you can have confidence you’re getting the best possible rate. While they aren’t great for small moves, they strike the right balance of service and affordability for long-distance moves, making them an excellent option.

Trinity Relocation Group vs. American Van Lines

American Van Lines is another strong option for long-distance moves and has built a name for itself as one of the best interstate moving companies. With nearly 30 years in business, the company has one of the best reputations in the industry, with comprehensive, full-service moving support, including for last-minute moves.

While they offer many similar services to Trinity (like packing and furniture disassembly), they do not provide auto transport services.

In addition to highly competitive rates, American Van Lines ensures the quality of its crews by drug testing and doing background checks on its employees. Like Trinity, however, American Van Lines charges up to 50% for your initial deposit.

How moving with Trinity Relocation Group works

As a moving broker, the moving process with Trinity Relocation Group is a little different than if you booked your move directly with a carrier. Trinity liaisons with professional movers within its network to provide a moving quote.

After you agree to a quote with a carrier, the carrier will work with you to determine your moving date and delivery date. You’ll need to pay an initial deposit prior to your pickup date. Movers will arrive on your agreed-upon pickup date, disassemble and wrap furniture, and load items onto the truck. If you opted to get packing and crating services, they will also pack your items.

Moves are given an estimated delivery window — you’ll have to pay extra for a guaranteed delivery date. Trinity’s terms state that the delivery window is up to 30 business days from the first available date of delivery — and some customer reviews indicate that people had to wait that long to get their stuff.

When Kylie, one of our Better Moves Project participants, moved from Illinois to Texas with Trinity, she found that movers didn’t load or deliver her items on the specified dates, and communication with the company deteriorated after her household items had been loaded up on the truck. Despite feeling like she got her money’s worth from Trinity, Kylie said she would probably not use the company again.

However, Trinity makes it clear on its website that it is a broker, and in some of these situations, such questions and concerns should likely have been directed to the carrier instead.

Upon delivery, you’ll pay the remaining balance for your move via cash or money order. Credit cards aren’t an option upon delivery, so make sure you’re prepared.

Should you use Trinity Relocation Group to move?

Due to its mixed online reputation, we can’t exactly give Trinity Relocation Group a glowing recommendation. Here are some things to keep in mind if you’re considering them for your move.

Use Trinity Relocation Group if:

  • You need to ship your car. Trinity Relocation Group is one of just a few full-service movers that also offers auto transportation. If you’d like to take care of shipping your car as part of your move, Trinity allows you to manage it all through one company.
  • You’d like to outsource all the work. With available packing, moving materials, and furniture disassembly, Trinity Relocation Group’s carriers can take all the heavy lifting out of the moving process. They also work to connect you with a mover in their network, saving you the time and research of finding one on your own.

Don’t use Trinity Relocation Group if:

  • You’re pressed for time. Similar to Kylie’s experience, customers have indicated in online reviews that the company doesn’t always send its movers in a timely manner for pickup or delivery. They have broad pickup and delivery windows, and often won’t arrive on the first available date.
  • You value strong communication throughout the move. Many customers, including Kylie, complain of poor communication throughout the moving process.
  • You’re concerned about the quality of brokered movers. As a broker, the quality of the carriers Trinity uses for each move can vary drastically, as evidenced by some of the company’s negative reviews.

FAQ

Is Trinity Relocation Group a scam?

However, Trinity Relocation Group is a legitimate licensed and insured company that is part of the Professional Movers Association of Florida.

How is Trinity Relocation Group rated?

Trinity Relocation Group has a decidedly mixed online reputation. The company has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and while it has a good “official rating” from Consumer Advocate, that website also has largely negative customer reviews. Much of this comes down to the company’s status as a broker, as the moving companies it partners with can vary significantly in the quality of their services.

Can I get a refund from Trinity Relocation Group?

Yes, you can get a refund from Trinity Relocation Group, though refund amounts may vary. If you cancel within 72 hours of signing the bill of lading, you’ll get a full refund. After the initial 72 hours are up, you’ll only get a 50% refund. If you cancel within a week of your first available pickup date, however, you can’t get any refund.
