Trinity Relocation Group Company Review

Are you sure if Trinity Relocation Group is the best moving and/or storage company option for you? We have reviewed pricing, services, customer reviews, and much more to assist you.

Overall Opinion of Trinity Relocation Group: The Trinity Relocation Group is a broker offering various do-it-yourself and full-service moving and storage services. They often fail to meet customer expectations as a result of pricing discrepancies, excessive delays in transport times, and below-average customer support. This company is a viable option only for those with very flexible pickup and delivery dates and third-party insurance coverage should always be purchased.

Trinity Relocation Group: Pros and Cons Summary:

The Good: Nationwide Service Area and Various Service Options

Trinity Relocation Group will coordinate moves nationwide and properly verifies that all transporters are licensed, insured, etc. They also allow the customer to decide how little or how much assistance they need such as with optional packing, unpacking, and storage options.

The Bad: Unresponsive Customer Service Escalates Problems

Because the company acts as a broker, they relinquish the majority of responsibility after the agreement is signed.

When problems arise, Trinity is generally the point of contact for customer concerns; however, they have minimal control over the shipment situation at this point. Often, the company representatives take a few days to respond, and sometimes they don’t have any definite solutions, which irritates the customer.

  • Any moving company they coordinate for you have already been screened and verified. This includes verification of proper registration with the U.S. Department of Transportation, valid insurance coverage, and consultation with various other industry resources.
  • They offer 30 days of complimentary storage in a secured location
  • Furniture is wrapped in “quilted” moving blankets and packing tape and padding is included when needed
  • An itemized inventory is created with notes regarding the condition of individual items

  • Long-distance moves generally take several weeks to be completed
  • “Binding” pricing estimates that are provided tend to be much lower than the final amount due
  • Appliance disconnection or connection is not included
  • “Quick Quote” or “instant” estimates are not possible from the website and require assistance from a sales representative
  • Insurance coverage beyond the minimum required by law is not available

Cost and Affordability

The estimates provided by the company are considered to be binding. The pricing provided will not change unless modifications are made to the services to be completed, the weight of the shipment, or cubic feet needed. They promote pricing transparency and estimates include transportation fees, tax, road tolls, fuel, etc.

Moving estimates are based on a single flight of stairs and the origin and destination. A $50 charge applies to any additional flight. If items must be carried from a truck (or vice versa) more than 100 feet, a $75 charge is added. If a semi-truck is unable to gain reasonably close access to the site of loading or unloading, a smaller shuttle truck may be needed that has a minimum additional cost of $300.

Storage rates range from $0.35 – $0.45 per cubic foot. $129 is the monthly minimum cost for storage. The company requires a 30% deposit, 50% paid upon pickup, and the balance due upon arrival at the destination.

Cancellation Policy

Customers will receive a full refund of their deposit minus a 10% merchant fee for processing if they cancel within 72 hours of placing the order. After 72 hours, only 50% of the deposit is refundable.

Insurance and Valuation Options

They provide the required standard valuation coverage of .60 cents per pound of any damaged item up to a maximum of $10,000. They mention that full value replacement coverage is available for an additional cost but don’t provide details.

Customer Reviews & Feedback

More than 400 customer reviews are posted on Google with an overall rating of 4.1 out of 5. Many of the negative posts involved customers who felt that they had been misled. For example, the sales representative first told them that the transport would arrive in 3-4 days; however, the process took several weeks. These lengthy delays are very common, as dozens of complaints appeared when reading through them.

Many customers on Google also complained of unexpected price increases. In many cases, the increase seemed justified. For example, the estimate was calculated according to a specified number of square feet that was much lower than the actual number of square feet needed to complete the move. Feedback suggests that the salespeople knowingly provide estimates that are likely to end up much higher to secure new customers.

The company’s Yelp page has roughly 50 posted reviews and an overall rating of three stars out of five. Again, customers complaining of excessive delays in their belongings reaching the destination. Many others complained of having boxes that were crushed during the move and items inside were badly damaged.

Their Better Business Bureau (BBB) page has an overall rating of B-. Approximately 34 complaints were received over the previous 12 months. The concerns posted show that the company representatives try to pacify disgruntled customers who are anxiously awaiting delivery of their belongings by providing “overly optimistic” dates of arrival that are rarely accurate.

Should You Consider Trinity Relocation Group for a Move?

The company offers attractive initial price quotes that are subject to change based on various factors. Unfortunately, these estimates are typically well below the final amount charged. They operate as a broker and the transport companies they use are often slow in reaching destinations.

The company website offers significantly fewer details regarding the services available than most competitors. Although company management does take the time to personally address most customer complaints, it is often much too late. They have a bad habit of overpromising and underdelivering, which is always a recipe for problems.

The problem is that the company is largely a sales organization that sometimes abruptly begins to distance itself from bad situations that arise during transport. Better outcomes are possible if the sales representative tells the prospective customer the truth about what to expect instead of what the customer wants to hear.
